Puma 760 Robot Control Using LabView

Run a 6 DOF Robot using LabView.  RoboTalk allows LabView to communicate with the robot.  The control panel will also control the Puma robot running on another computer via IP address.

Instructions:

  1. RoboWorks must be installed on your computer if not go to Software for instructions.
  2. Click on Puma Model and download the RoboWorks file to your computer.  Do not open this file directly from the Web, but first download and save it on your computer and then open it in RoboWorks.
  3. Start RoboWorks.  Click on File in the top left of the window.  Then click on Open and select the Puma760Robot.scn file you downloaded to your computer.
  4. Click on Animation -> From IPC.  
  5. To rotate, pan or zoom the view of the 3D model hold down the right mouse button on the RoboWorks window and select 'Interactive Mode->Rotation, Translation, or Zooming' and then move the cursor.
  6. LabView must be installed on your computer also.  A free demonstration version is available for free download from National Instruments.
  7. Download the RoboTalk library for Labview.  This allows your LabView vi's to communicate with RoboWorks. 
  8. Download the PumaController.vi and open it.
  9. Make sure the Robot name in the LabView front panel matches the name of RoboWorks file that was downloaded to your computer
  10. Type in the IP Address of the computer you are working on or leave the default as 127.0.0.1.  If you want to remotely control the Puma simulation then type in the IP Address of the remote computer.
  11. Press the play button at the top left of the LabView front panel.
  12. Turn the knobs on the front panel to control the joints of the Puma 760 Robot.
