Team Research Focus
The Intelligent Actuator Team develops modular, reconfigurable, reprogrammable, and fault-tolerant actuator technologies to achieve enhanced actuator performance and resource allocation as well as increased actuator level fault tolerance and condition based maintenance.

The focus of our research is on the integration of a multi-sensor environment to fully describe the state of an actuator into the actuator system and on incorporating that sensor system into the actuator control schemes.

This work integrates advances in microelectronics, computer science and mechanical engineering into actuator level systems. As a result, the team members are a mixture of students from these three areas of study, and all team members draw upon work done in these areas to further their own research topics.
