Variable Geometry Truss Robot

Robotics Research 2017 Dual-Arm Robot

This robot was donated to the RRG after Robotics Research failed to capture a contract with NASA for its use in space.  This robot is highly dexterous with 17 degrees of freedom.  Lovingly called "Mr. Two Arm" by researchers at RRG this robot has a repeatibility of 0.004 inches and a maximum reach of 78.75 inches.  These characteristics allow the robot to utilize a larger dexterous workspace.  However, even though this robot weighs 650 pounds its carrying capacity is only 25 pounds.  Currently this robot is being used heavily for Inverse Kinematics research in the topics of Criteria Fusion, Collision Avoidance, and Fault Tolerance.
